International Material or Not?
Uganda has many talented Gospel Music Artists but few have made it to International level. The talented artists are not well developed to compete with what the entertainment sector expects from them. Music today requires the following attributes:
- Rhythmic Voices for impressive vocals that will write a signature on all songs done by one artist
- Play a Music Instrument Skillfully for motivation, composition, live performance etc.; most Uganda artists can hardily play a musical instrument
- Stage Performance art for meeting the fans expectations
- Positive Attitude towards success to maintain focus on music even when it lacks power-play on most FM Stations
- Studying Music or Listening to other musicians rather than sampling their music
If Ugandan Gospel Musicians would focus on their own merits and invest in improving them, then I completely believe many households will be rid of secular music and secular stations will have no choice but to adapt more gospel songs in their regular programming.
